While 2012 is still a few weeks off, many events related the War of 1812 Bicentennial are already underway.


Two events that we were able to attend this past week were excellent.


Remembering Crysler's Farm


November 11 marks not just remembrance day, but the anniversary of the Battle at Crysler's Farm.


Each year descendants and others gather to commemorate the sacrifices made by those who fought at Crysler's Farm.


This year over 40 people attended, including the commandant of the Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Highlanders, Lieutenant-Colonel R.C. Duda, and 1812 historians Donald and Dianne Graves, 


Regency Ball in Ottawa


The Ottawa English Country Dance Club hosted its annual ball and workshop November 11-13, 2011. With nearly 100 people registered, the weekend was one of the most successful for the group.


Below is a video of dances showcased at the ball on Saturday night including:


  • Sir Watkins' Jigg; 
  • A Girl's best Friend; 
  • Sicilian Circle - Summer Circle; 
  • Prince George's Birthday; 
  • The Archbishop; and 
  • Michael and All Angels.
