Battle of Ogdensburg at Prescott & Ogdensburg

On Feb. 22, 1813, Lt. Col. Red George Macdonnell and the Glengarry Light Infantry Fencibles crossed the frozen St. Lawrence River to defeat their American rivals, the First U.S. Rifle Regiment.The battle will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday on Lighthouse Point, directly across the St. Lawrence River from the Prescott waterfront. Raising a Spencerville Militia at Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Town Hall, Upstairs

With the War of 1812 Bicentennial approaching, it has Spencervillians thinking - we need a militia to ward off those Yankees!  On Thursday, November 17, local men plan to gather and learn how they can raise a militia and handle muzzle-loading muskets.
