What interests you about the War of 1812?
I am interested in the living and working conditions of the soldiers and their families. I would also like to see some re-enactments of the battles.

Hi Lynda . I too am interested in the working and living conditions , in my research I have come across articals on such matters , as a veteran descendant of General Brocks 49th of Foot , did you know his favourite food was Roast Beef Sandwiches with Horse Raddish Source , a far cry from the mens meal .

Lynda , let me introduce myself , I am 74 yearold married with one son , served three years in the British Army , main interest outside of Family are Veterans Association , History and Architecture of old Buildings . Brock was a personal venture for me , we have holiday for many years on the Island of Guernsey , its beutifull full of contrast but so much going on in such a small area . Then there is the fact my basic trianing in the Army was completed at Brock Barracks , Reading , Berkshire. no longer use as a trianing depot , but still used by Veterans twice a year , July for Regimental Reunion week end and Rembrance Day in November .

is there a persiphic area of information I can help you with for your Daughter , I have built up so much information , pictures documents - videos etc . hope this helps as a intro . Robert Scott .

Lynda . May I suggest your daughter picks a theme to tell a story about , a person ; event such as the battle of Detroit , Lura Secord and James FitzGibbon , the Green Tigers or the Bloody Boys , what ever she chooses look for the quirky details , such as the Green Tigers using Cow Bell's to communicate , or Lura listening to the Americans disscussing there plans , which to save the day had to get this vital information to FitzGibbon , not forgetting the vital role Tecumseh played in this period .

Find a theme and make it into an interesting story to have her friends gripped and spellbound , does not have to be long but good content .
