Many of you are familiar with Kingston the band "Gopher Baroque." (line-up is currently Dawn Callan, Su Callan and Joe Grant.)  Now the original three members of that band are together again as the "Great Lakes Girls".  When we're at reenactments, we have the Great Lakes Sutlery, hence ...  We are thrilled to be performing together again (the harmonies came back easily).  We have some new material - specific to 1812 . We of course come in costume as camp followers/sutlers and are 'kid friendly'…See More

Thank you for asking, Alicia!  We had a great time - the expert from LCBO was very good - had lots of information and put some fun into it.  At the end, he had a bar tending competition where a group created a new drink and named it.  There certainly were some interested concoctions!

The good thing is, everyone went home without a need for a designated driver, although we had planned for that.

So next time, have to get you down here!!

Hi Jan: I am doing geneology, have been an Ontario history nut all my life, and 'might' sew something for 1812. I teach costuming at Queen's and may use 1812 garments for my March teaching unit. I hope to go to some events over the summer. I was in Gan on Saturday re "What to wear'. (And I'm trying to do some writing re family history which includes some 1812. My family have proven 7 UEL lineages.) And I might find some new friends in the process. Anne
