Testing One, Two, Three

Well, she fires….and apparently we should have warned Tremont Island!
Yesterday (May 29)Bob Irvine and Don Craig, both trained in the fine art of cannon firing, were on site cleaning the 24 pounder in the cannon battery of Joel Stone Heritage Park.
"We tested the old girl with a one pound charge and she performed as well as in 1812," said Paul Scott, chair of the 1812 Remember the Raid weekend in August.
The Joel Stone Heritage Park official opening, commemoration ceremony and dedication of the new and very large Canadian flag will be on Monday June 18 at 11 a.m.
It promises to be colourful, exciting and trust us, the cannons are ready for June 18th and beyond. We will be heard!!
God Save The King!

"There was a bit of rust built up but, as the photo shows, we got rid of it. The cannon report echoed far across the river", he said.
