Ignoring the horrible bonnet, below is an example of a Spencer Jacket. The one to the front right is made of velvet and was constructed from the Rocking Horse Farm pattern. Behind to the left, Sue is wearing a pale green Spencer. 

 

I found the Rocking Horse Farm pattern to be quite good, spot on for sizing, and easy to make. The only problem with those patterns is getting past the lack of pictures.
